For years, the BBC’s Television Centre in White City served as a dream factory, churning out decades of iconic programmes, from Doctor Who to Top of the Pops and Strictly Come Dancing. Since the broadcaster’s departure from its former headquarters in 2013, the space has been transformed into a vibrant mixed-use destination. Retaining BBC Studioworks, including three live TV studios, and already host to 574 completed new homes, inspiring office spaces, as well as White City House – an outpost of Soho House’s members club portfolio – Television Centre is now gearing up for its final chapter, launching The Ariel.

The Ariel features a collection of 167 stylish studios, one-, two-, and three-bedroom and penthouse apartments, across 23-storeys, which promise expansive views of the London skyline in all directions. Residents will have access to the exclusive, Tatjana von Stein-designed wellness suite, with a treatment room and yoga and Pilates studios, as well as a lobby/co-working space and residents’ lounge and bar, which includes an adjacent private meeting and dining room overlooking a beautiful roof terrace.

“Our aim for The Ariel was to design the amenity spaces as an extension of a home, but with a touch of hospitality — they’re catalysts for expression and creativity, truly embodying the spirit of Television Centre and its residents,” says von Stein. As well as in-house amenities, residents at The Ariel will also be granted access to a lounge and screening room in a nearby building in addition to the hugely popular Soho House managed gym and swimming pool at White City House.

With heritage baked into The Ariel’s DNA, including its name, taken from the spirit of air in Shakespeare’s The Tempest and the weekly staff newspaper published by the BBC, it would be remiss to overlook the spectacular homes themselves. The elegant building is designed by RIBA Stirling prize-winning architect Allford Hall Monaghan Morris while the tasteful interiors are by MSMR.

Residents of The Ariel will find themselves at the epicentre of an established creative community, including White City Place – home to BBC, Yoox-Net-a-Porter, L’Oreal, Novartis and more – alongside the globally renowned educational institutions, Imperial College and Royal College of Art. With nearby Westfield London boasting more than 350 retail outlets, and fashionable Holland Park and Notting Hill, with their eclectic array of boutiques, restaurants, galleries, parks and the latter’s famous Portobello Road Market, there is plenty to keep you occupied at weekends.

If you’ve visited Television Centre recently, you’ll be well aware of the neighbourhood’s roster of dining and drinking spots. Michelin-starred restaurant Endo at Rotunda serves delectable sushi in the clouds atop the Helios, while Indian small plates restaurant Kricket and gastropub The Broadcaster are frequented by locals, TV stars and their agents alike.

Unsurprisingly for a former media hub, Television Centre boasts seamless connectivity. Located opposite Wood Lane and White City underground stations, residents will have easy access to three underground lines, Shepherd Bush Overground, providing easy access to Holland Park in four minutes, Paddington in eight minutes, Bond Street in 13 minutes, King’s Cross in 18 minutes and Bank in 22 minutes. For international connectivity, Heathrow Airport is just 30 minutes away, while the A40 provides easy access to the Cotswolds and beyond.

The Ariel blends the best of luxury and convenience with unmatched historical roots in a prime London position. After all, where else can you claim that your home stands tall on the destination where the Doctor’s Tardis and Monty Python’s circus both took flight?

Apartments at The Ariel start from £595,000. Register your interest at televisioncentre.com.
