Shard Place launches luxurious rental apartments – and London’s highest outdoor pool

08 May 2025 | | By Kari Colmans

Bordering the iconic London landmark for which it is named, the 176 sophisticated apartments promise unparalleled views and amenities

Brought to life by the same team behind the skyline-defining Shard, London Bridge’s newest residential development, Shard Place, has been designed by internationally acclaimed architectural practice Renzo Piano Building Workshop. Also responsible for the Centre George Pompidou in Paris, The New York Times Building, and Mareterra in Monte Carlo, the property is a site to behold.

An innovative 27-storey glass building, its signature design will again interrupt the London skyline, just like its sister property. Its striking appearance is defined by two intersecting volumes: a taller form rising to 100 metres, and a lower southern volume, which together appear to float 16 metres above the ground.

Comprising a range of designs and sizes, apartments at Shard Place span from 425 square feet to 1,486 square feet, with 20 differing layouts. Each home is flooded with natural daylight and boasts incredible views thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows (some with double or triple aspect vistas of London) while the building’s unique faceted façade with low-iron glazing maximises yet more daylight, and naturally ventilates each home’s winter garden.

With a focus on merging indoor and outdoor living, as well as residents’ all-round wellbeing, homes are thoughtfully designed using timeless, natural materials and texture-led, tactile surfaces. Furnished by design studio State of Craft, residents can choose from two distinct interior palettes, named for the local areas of Bermondsey and Borough. Tailored to suit all tastes, each look is also offered in a light or dark palette, and comes complete with bespoke handmade furnishings as well as hero pieces from Cassina, B&B Italia and Fredericia, with the option to upgrade to Beaumont & Brown linens and bespoke ProCook kitchenware.

Curated throughout by Richeldis Fine Art, the building holds more than 1,000 individually chosen artworks, both within the apartments as well as in the communal spaces. Focusing on themes of craft and nature, residents will recognise works by world-class artists including originals by Lawrence Calver and Carla Cascales, ceramics by Rhian Jones, large-format photographs by Chiara Zonca and poetic meditations by Nicolas Feldmeyer.

Redefining London’s luxury rental market, tenants will have access to 12,000 square feet of versatile amenity space. Spanning three distinct levels, the star of the show will be London’s highest outdoor swimming pool, which will operate seasonally from April to September. Set against the capital’s skyline, it comes complete with a landscaped sun deck and changing rooms, ideal for lazy summer evenings and languid weekends.

A double-height orangery and library, opening onto an expansive south-facing terrace with striking views of St Paul’s Cathedral, also provides an additional outdoor area in which to unwind and entertain under a pergola awning. Other amenities include a 12-seater private dining room and kitchen, available to book with a private chef, a 15-seat cinema for movie nights or private parties, and a state-of-the-art wellness suite, fully equipped with a Technogym Artis gym, private studio, sauna, and steam room. Specialists from spa and gym consultancy Educated Body will also provide residents with a curated selection of wellness events and experiences.

As well as the standout health and wellbeing offering, residents will also benefit from a 24-hour concierge, security and on-site maintenance, as well as exclusive car club membership and secure bicycle storage. Other options include tailored housekeeping services.

The third and final piece of Shard Quarter’s imposing trilogy, alongside the Shard itself and News UK’s headquarters, The News Building, Shard Place is perfectly placed in the heart of London Bridge, walking distance from the capital’s most exciting galleries, shops, restaurants and entertainment venues.

George Hankinson, head of residential at Shard Place’s property management firm Real Estate Management (UK) Limited comments: “We are thrilled to unveil this impeccable rental offering to the market – providing prospective residents a glimpse of the lifestyle and craftsmanship that has been delivered by a world-class development and design team. With this milestone achieved, we are looking forward to welcoming our first residents to this landmark development in the coming weeks. This vibrant neighbourhood combines world-class gastronomy, culture, and connectivity on your doorstep, making Shard Place a best-in-class rental destination in the heart of London.”
