London Square announces Ransome’s Wharf development in Battersea’s Creative Quarter
The thriving neighbourhood continues its expansion with this landmark new development
Developer London Square has teamed up with leading design studio Echlin to announce Ransome’s Wharf – a new residential development in the heart of Battersea. The latest addition to the developer’s Prime Collection, the scheme offers more than just a residential address and signals a pivotal turning point in the regeneration of Battersea’s Ransome’s Dock.
When complete, there will be a new public walkway and plaza running through the site, while the canal flowing into the dock will be painstakingly restored for the first time in decades via the installation of specialist new dock gates.
Comprising 118 new homes, the striking dockside development will be arranged across five buildings. Anchored among beautiful, landscaped gardens, a vibrant new plaza with more than 19,000 square feet of commercial space will ensure the area also becomes a buzzing retail, dining and leisure destination.

London-based architectural practice Fourfoursixsix was commissioned to transform the historic landmark into a contemporary development, ensuring it meets the highest standards of design, sustainability, safety and craftsmanship. Forward-thinking British-based interior design house Echlin, meanwhile, will deliver the interior architecture, “material palette” and “spatial experience” of the homes, setting both the architectural and design direction, drawing on the warehouse aesthetic of the site’s previous life as the Ransome & Co. engineering works.
The 1.6-acre site is located just south of Chelsea, between Albert Bridge and Battersea Bridge, and its heritage inspires the entire design narrative. Robust proportions, brickwork and metal detailing nod to the site’s history, creating a distinct design identity, while the elegant, light-filled and stylish décor ensures it meets all contemporary standards of luxury.
Positioned at the heart of Battersea’s Creative Quarter, home to Foster + Partners, the Royal College of Art and the Vivienne Westwood atelier, Ransome’s Wharf promises to enhance the area’s cultural identity while contributing to its ongoing evolution. Importantly, it will also reconnect the area with the Thames.

Adam Lawrence, CEO of London Square says: “Ransome’s Wharf [is] a design-led riverside destination that embodies the craftsmanship, creativity and quality that define this next evolution of the London Square brand. Battersea’s Creative Quarter has long been a place of innovation, and this development continues that story by honouring the site’s past while introducing a new era of refined contemporary living on the Thames.”
Samuel Pye, creative director of Echlin adds: “The site’s industrial heritage gives us a rich narrative foundation. Our vision is to create homes that express that craftsmanship – through proportion, texture and atmosphere – while delivering the ease and elegance of contemporary London life.”
