1 Mayfair reveals interiors and announces partnership with Dorchester Collection

07 Nov 2025 | | By Kari Colmans

Designed by world-renowned designer Juan Pablo Molyneux, this palatial development sets a new benchmark for top-tier luxury living

A first-class partnership between some of the world’s most sought-after architects, interior designers and artisans, 1 Mayfair has just unveiled a first look at its jaw-dropping palatial interiors.

Eight-storeys high at its apex – with grand Portland Stone facades fronting onto South Audley Street, Hill Street and Waverton Street – 1 Mayfair houses 24 principal residences including lateral apartments, penthouses and townhouses. It also boasts five further staff suites and all the five-star amenities associated with a grand hotel, such as those in The Dorchester Collection, which has just been announced as the building’s property manager, including a health spa with swimming pool, 24-hour security, concierge and valet parking.

With exterior architecture by New York-based architect Robert AM Stern of RAMSA, and interiors of the halls and lounges devised by Juan Pablo Molyneux, the concept reflects the grandeur of this landmark development. Drawing on the history of the property and its classical architecture, alongside monumental design influences from around the world, the result is a sequence of spectacular halls, reception rooms and lounges that open onto or overlook the central garden.

The South Audley Street entrance leads to an extraordinary rotunda, the first to be built in the Mayfair locality since 1772, which has a circular colonnade and a ceiling with a hand-painted fresco. The marble floor was inspired by the Piazza del Campidoglio in Rome, with beautiful columns in a scagliola finish, influenced by the Greek Hall in the Pavlovsk Palace in St Petersburg, built by Empress Catherine the Great. Between the columns are busts of important personalities from British history, while the celestial hand-painted ceiling features zodiac figures.

The Grand Reception Room features a double-height ceiling, classical formal interiors and 20ft-high arched French windows overlooking the garden, and has been contrived for residents to come together in luxury. With majestic friezes at its entryways, it blends Georgian palace architecture with European heritage artwork.

Overlooking one side of the central garden is the Crystal Gallery: a rock crystal, glass-panelled hallway whose reflective walls and pilasters recall the Hall of Mirrors in the Palace of Versailles, designed to create an ingenious optical illusion, with the garden views through the French windows along one side duplicated and reflected in the mirrors.

Go downstairs to discover the Garden Gallery, an enclosed loggia opening onto the garden, with marble flooring, mirrored trellis walls and trellis design pilasters. The Garden Gallery has a platinum effect ceiling hung with English country house lanterns, rattan benches upholstered in green tapestry fabric, and classic Jane Churchill curtains dressing the windows. Meanwhile, the Library provides residents with a refined atmospheric space in which to read and entertain.
