Sweet dreams: Anya Hindmarch launches first sleep concept store in Chelsea
The British designer is on a mission to help you get a better night’s kip with her London-based sleep retreat
“Sleep is the new rock and roll — everyone’s talking about it,” says Anya Hindmarch, fashion designer and visionary behind Anya’s Village, a slew of evolving concept stores and retail experiences in Chelsea.
In fact, she’s so passionate about sleep that the first Anya’s Village shop of 2023, Anya’ZZZ, will focus on all things circadian rhythms and deep slumbers. Centred around Hindmarch’s sleep capsule collection, the store will play host to a number of Sleep Talks from renowned experts giving guests the opportunity to learn how to get the best night’s rest.
This comes after Hindmarch opened her retail concept The Village on the Cadogan Estate last year. Located just off Sloane Street, home to the designer’s flagship shop, The Village features The Anya Café; The Plastic Store focusing on the brand’s sustainability; The Labelled Store; The Bespoke Store; and The Village Hall, home to all of the concept spaces.
The new shop, at 11 Pont Street, is open for six weeks and features plush bedding, gentle lighting and neutral colours to recreate a soft dreamscape. There’s even a king size bed for tired shoppers to dive into and try out for themselves.
Inside, you’ll find Hindmarch’s sleep collection, which includes an array of luxurious silk pyjamas, soft blankets, pillowcases and printed eye masks. The space also features a curated edit of best-in-class sleep-improving products from wearable tech, books, supplements, next generation alarm clocks from top brands such as Dyson, Lumie, Dreem Distillery and Form Nutrition, to name a few.
In January, the store will host three Sleep Talks exploring the science of sleep, its importance to our bodies and how to promote a good night’s rest. Therapist and sleep coach Sarah Wilde, who specialises in anxiety and insomnia, will be at Anya’ZZZ on 17 January for bookable 30-minute consultations. On 23 January, three doctors from the Bronte Clinic in Belgravia will be offering informal 15 min drop-ins with information on how to solve sleep challenges and set you on the right path to a peaceful night.
The final event, on 30 January, will see Hindmarch host Russell Foster, a Professor of Circadian Neuroscience, Director of the Sleep and Circadian Neuroscience Institute (SCNi) and a world-leading expert on circadian neuroscience. The conversation will cover his life’s work in the science of body clocks, their surprising impact on all areas of our lives and his latest book, Life Time.
