Maybach Ocean Club: Inside the exclusive private members’ club that will sail around the world

14 Jan 2026 | |By Annie Lewis

Yachting has always been among the most glamorous ways to travel. A romantic and high-end mode of transport, it has been favoured by royalty – Queen Elizabeth II loved her yacht Britannia so much that she reportedly cried at its decommissioning ceremony in 1997 – and celebrities including Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo are regularly spotted chartering massive superyachts like the 136-metre Flying Fox or buying custom vessels such as Steven Spielberg’s Seven Seas

Bringing something fresh and new to the yachting market, the Maybach Ocean Club is a first-of-its-kind superyacht membership club, announced at the end of last year and planning its maiden voyage in 2029. Reflecting Maybach’s history across air, land, and sea, the new club offers members access to a custom-built yacht by Dölker + Voges, curated voyages to iconic global destinations, and membership of a community of like-minded individuals without the hassle of owning their own yacht. Life at sea has never looked better.

The pioneering club aims to address key inefficiencies of traditional yachting while enhancing comfort and exclusivity for its members. Many private superyachts are typically underused, spending much of their time idle in ports, while ultra-luxury cruise ships tend to rush from destination to destination with itineraries catering largely to an older demographic. This new concept alleviates these challenges by guaranteeing members luxury on board accommodation for four weeks per year.

Developed in close collaboration with Mercedes-Benz Design, the Maybach Ocean Club’s inaugural vessel is Beyond Horizons: a 155-metre superyacht designed to offer barefoot luxury. Inside, 30 residential-style suites, each evenly sized at 800 square feet – solving the problem of other yachts’ traditionally hierarchical cabin layouts – come complete with private balconies and state-of-the-art amenities such as a dedicated concierge and high-speed satellite internet.

Elsewhere, find a fine dining restaurant and lounge with rotating culinary concepts; an expansive ‘beach club’ with direct sea access, cabanas, and cocktail service; a spacious spa with treatment rooms, sauna, and wellness areas; a fully equipped fitness centre with a yoga studio and personal trainers; and a collection of water toys, including jet skis, sea breachers, sea bobs, kayaks, paddle boards, and snorkelling gear. Sustainability is also central to the design: a next-generation propulsion system powered by green methanol or biodiesel minimises the vessel’s carbon footprint. Plus, a crew-to-passenger ratio of 1:3 ensures personalised service throughout.

While you’ll no doubt be thoroughly entertained on board, the Maybach Ocean Club offers a curated array of activities at port too. Members can look forward to visits to pristine beaches and islands, waterfront dining at some of the world’s finest restaurants, and access to elite golf courses and reciprocal members’ clubs. Exclusive VIP experiences include private city tours, helicopter excursions, and water activities.

So, where will your yachting adventures take you? From mid-spring to mid-autumn, Beyond Horizons will visit ports along the Mediterranean, such as the Côte d’Azur, St Tropez, Sardinia, Portofino, southern Spain, Malta, and Turkey. Cooler months will be spent in Central America, the Caribbean, or the Indian Ocean. Of course, every route is planned to ensure members discover new sights and experiences at each stop.

“More than a vessel, the heart of the Maybach Ocean Club is the private circle of friends that will come together through the shared experiences aboard the yacht, in the water, or on excursions together,” says Captain Matthias Bosse, co-founder and managing director. “Whether sailing to St Barths or Sardinia, every journey is about more than travel, it is a chance to build lifelong memories and lasting friendships.”
