World-class wellness facilities take centre stage at the luxury developer's latest London residences

With the 2020 Olympics kicking off in Tokyo this Friday, sporting fever is about to take over. If you’ve always thought of yourself as the next Mo Farrah or Kelly Holmes, but have never quite found the right training environment to unleash your inner Olympian, luxury property developer Christian Candy has the solution for you.

His latest London development, 80 Holland Park, is a collection of 25 super-prime residences spanning one- to five-bedroom ground floor apartments, penthouses and duplex townhouses in one of the capital’s most-sought after locations. And while each comes with all the mod-cons you would expect from a home in this illustrious neighbourhood – including an abundance of outdoor space via balconies, terraces and gardens, a 24-hour concierge, a private cinema, business suite and residents’ lounge – it is the world-class gym and wellness centre that really sets 80 Holland Park apart.

Designed by Tim Weeks, a former Olympic triathlete and now coach to some of the world’s top athletes, the expansive gym has been created to offer the ultimate in flexible training options, catering to the fitness ambitions of all residents regardless of age or ability.

This has been achieved by dividing the gym into five distinct ‘training zones’. The first zone offers a Crossfit training rig, boxing bag and ballet bar, and the second a cardio wall complete with bikes and treadmills for all-round training. Between them, the other three zones offer a digital training area with all the tech necessary for streaming live classes, a private Pilates space, a body-strength circuit area, and an athletics track for more niche workout needs.

Every space in the gym has been designed to be equipped for smart workouts, while remaining digitally ‘neutral’ – meaning that all equipment is compatible with Apple Fitness+, Peloton, Zwift or any other fitness app a resident wishes to use.

“As an athlete, I learnt that you could have the best coaches in the world and the best training programme, but if you don’t have the right environment, you can’t facilitate your ambitions,” explains Weeks. “At 80 Holland Park, we wanted to create an intelligent, performance-driven gym and wellbeing space that truly caters for the end-user and is tailored to their needs and specific fitness levels. We spent a great deal of time sourcing and curating best-in-class equipment from the world’s leading brands; this combination elevates the space to a new level.”

Of course, any elite athlete knows that the time you spend outside the gym is just as important as the time you spend training inside of it, and 80 Holland Park is ready to cater for downtime, too. A 16.8-metre pool provides the perfect spot for post-workout cooldowns, while extensive spa facilities, including a steam room and treatment areas, provide space for sports massages and other restorative activities. The only downside? There’s no excuse for not winning that gold medal now…
