Lofty Expectations: A $29 Million Private Residence in New York

Residence 6 is a modern masterpiece atop 66 Ninth Avenue, designed by Paris Forino

Nestled in between Manhattan’s Chelsea and West Village district, this is the New York that Hollywood wanted you to see. A labyrinth of shady brownstone-lined streets and charming local eateries makes this one of the most serendipitous areas of the Big Apple, where life takes a more leisurely pace.

After years of construction, 66 Ninth Avenue Residence 6 has been unveiled as one of the city’s most exclusive private residences. Designed by Paris Forino, whose firm was ranked by the New York Post as one of the “Top 4 Firms Designing New York City”, the private loft boasts 5,444 sq. ft of floor space and five bedrooms, created with exquisite attention to detail. The windows, for example, are soundproofed to ‘pin-dop’ silence specifications. Zinc has been imported from France, alongside Pallesandro Bluette marble from Italy to create a contemporary, yet artisanal finish to the residence. Meljac House, whose previous projects include the Château de Versailles and Dolce & Gabbana showrooms, created handmade, bespoke electrical fittings, staying true to the designer’s intention of ‘haute craftsmanship.’

The 44-feet long hallway acts as the spine of the home, connecting the living quarters to the bedroom suites, which also includes a den, bar and library. Perched at the top of the 1905 terracotta structure with views over the Meatpacking District, Residence 6 proves why New York’s luxury property market remains amongst the most desirable in the world.
