The 1975 and Olivia Rodrigo join Neil Young as Glastonbury 2025 headliners
Plus, Alanis Morrisette, Rod Stewart, The Prodigy and many more
The initial line-up for Glastonbury 2025 has been announced, with Neil Young, The 1975 and Olivia Rodrigo forming this year’s headliners. Among other acts taking to the Pyramid Stage this year are Biffy Clyro, Raye, Wolf Alice, Wet Leg, Self Esteem and Alanis Morissette, who perhaps surprisingly will be making her Glastonbury debut.
2025’s legend slot, which traditionally takes place on Sunday afternoon and in previous years has been filled by Dolly Parton, Elton John and Shania Twain, will see British music icon Rod Sewart take to the stage. Headlining The Other Stage, Glastonbury’s second most prestigious venue, willl be Charli XCX, who recently scooped all five of her BRIT award nominations, Loyle Carner, and The Prodigy, who will close the festival on Sunday night, marking thier first return to Glastonbury since the death of frontman Keith Flint in 2019.
While the Glastonbury headliners are traditionally a tightly kept secret, this year Neil Young let the cat out of the bag by releasing a surprise announcement on 1 Janaury that he was withdrawing from the festival due to his mistaken belief that it was under the “corporate control” of the BBC. Two days later, Young, who previously headlined the festival in 2009, confirmed that he would, in fact, be playing Glastonbury, becoming the first act of 2025 to be announced.
Of course, Glastonbury 2025 will also welcome a whole host of debut acts looking to make their mark at the world’s most famous music festival. Among the first timers joining the 2025 line up are TikTok sensations Noah Kahan and Gracie Abrams, Jade (formerly of Little Mix), Shaboozey, BRIT-award winner Myles Smith and US hip hop icon Busta Rhymes.
Nostalgia more your thing? An indie-heavy line up will see the return of The Maccabees, The Libertines, St Vincent and Creedence Clearwater Revival. And if that still doesn’t sound like enough great music to fill a weekend, rumours continue to swirl that Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan and even Rihanna may yet join the party. Happy camping.
